battle studies
You know how most of the time you crack open your fortune cookie and laugh at the broken, nonsensical phrase and toss it away?
Maybe peer at the “Learn Chinese” on the back, massacre the words, and then crumple it up, leaving it to be swept away by the busboy?
Well, the other day I actually really liked my fortune. In fact, I took that little white paper with me and stuck it inside the case of my phone. I keep unexpectedly coming across it and it’s a good, healthy reminder. I want to share it with you guys, too.
“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting their battle, too.”
Pretty profound for a fortune cookie, huh?
I mean, it’s so true. Basically, just be nice and respect everyone because everyone is going through their own battles, their own issues. Everyone has demons, everyone has a past and their own share of problems, no matter how big or how small.
You never know about someone’s past, or even present. Just by looking at someone, you have no idea what they’ve been through or are currently going through.
I think if everyone kind of took a moment to think about that, people would be more understanding, you know? Not quite as judgmental. You never know how your actions or words may impact someone else, because you never can be sure of what’s going on in another person’s life.
Everyone has their own shit to deal with, so respect everyone. Everyone’s a soldier with their own battles to fight.
So read your fortune cookies.
